Abstract


The modem architecture has conduced the blankness of architecture visualize and made the city bankrupt in individuality after its flooding, for its taste didn’t take root in the regional culture .So architects hope to obtain new inspiration from the investigation of traditional architecture.One kind of ganlan-styled architecture -- residential architecture of Miao ethnic group is a kind of old inhabitancy form, still exist extensively in the southwest mountain area of our country, among this, the most characteristic is the southeast of Guizhou Province. It not only has a unique building image, but also has deep nationality culture information at the same time. Although go through development, it never disappears and keeps a strong vitality. As a kind of traditional architecture structure from generation to generation, many aspects as combines topography, save area, meet climatic conditions, save energy, use local material and pay attention to environmental ecology and so on embody harmony growing with the nature.This paper analyses and research the traditional dwelling of Miao ethnic group basing on the investigation. The first part analyses origin and development of ganlan-styled residential architecture, then introduces the historical culture background of Miao ethnic group and summarizes the national personality and taste. The second part is about national dwelling culture, including natural environment, social economy, custom, national beauty taste, the contact with other nations. In this part, the paper investigates the dwelling surrounding and architecture arts mainly, and summarizes the inspiration for modern architecture. In the end, we cann’t ignore protection while we emphasis development of ganlan-styled residential architecture of Miao, because the reference and development could be better on the basis of protecting properly. And through study of traditional dwelling of Miao ethnic group, the author summarizes beneficial illumination to the modern regional architecture.
