Abstract

With the rapid development of the city and expansion of urban area, the people who live far from the Wastewater Treatment Plant, but now living around it. The odors distributed from the Wastewater Treatment Plant have affected the peopleenvironment, so it is necessary to remove the odors from the Sewage Treatment Plant. Our issue groups make a research on the characteristics and removing of odors before experiment. The odor that dissolved have been removed by Biotrickling filtration, but for those indissolved odors, it is hard to be removed by Biotrickling filtration. On this situation, Using UV deodorizing equipment degrades the insoluble volatile organic compounds such as Methyl mercaptan in this paper.Mainly researches in this study:1. Obtaining the relationship between UV Wavelength and the removal of methyl mercaptan.2. Obtaining the relationship between the residence time and removal of methyl mercaptan.3. Obtaining the relationship between the Inlet concentration and Removal of methyl mercaptan.4. Making a further research on Photocatalytic oxidation to degrade methyl mercaptan.Obtaining important conclusions as follow:1. Using wavelength of 245nm and 185nm UV Respectively degrade methyl mercaptan, the wavelength of 185nm UV can degrade methyl mercaptan, but the 245nm UV not.2. In ultraviolet lamp power at 10W (the density of power is 238.1 W/m3), the removal rate of methyl mercaptan increased by the increasing of methyl mercaptan inlet concentration, but the outlet of methyl mercaptan concentration also increased. The outlet of methyl mercaptan inlet concentration cannot meet methanthiol three-level emission standard. 3. In ultraviolet lamp power at 10W(the density of power is 238.1W/m3), the outlet concentration methyl mercaptan have just reached national three-level emission standard, in theoretically, the relationship between the methyl mercaptan inlet concentration and the gas. CAO=Kt+7.3×10-7 Analyzing the results of experiment, we know the relationship between the the methyl mercaptan inlet concentration and gas retention time:t=16.79CAO+0.1824. In this experiment, retention time is 4.41s, inlet concentration around 0.27 mg/m3, As the increasing of ultraviolet lamp power, methyl mercaptan removal efficiency of basic nothing changes, the main reason is that the degradation of methyl mercaptan is limited by gas retention time.5. After Joining the TiO2 catalyst, studying in the methyl mercaptan just reached national three-level emission standard, the methyl mercaptan inlet concentration and the relationship between the gas retention time in theoretically is: according to the experimental data analysis and gain the empirical equation is: t=0.9963e5.506CAO6. After joining TiO2 catalyst, the degradation efficiency of methyl mercaptan is improved, but in high inlet concentration that the outlet concentration still cannot meet the three-level emission standard. The working principle also has a big difference.
