Objective:To investigate the characteristics and difference of mismatch negativity, P300 and Contingent negative variation(CNV) in patients with depression disorder(DD) and patients with generalized anxiety disorder(GAD).To analyze the relation of above brain electrophysiology index with depression disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. To study the effect of MMN, P300 and CNV on diagnosis and differential diagnosis in patients with depression disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. Methods:Using German import brain evoked potentials instruments, the MMN, P300 and CNV were elicited from 59 DD patients,42 GAD patients and 54 normal controllers. To evaluate the depression symptom with Hamilton Depression Rating Scale and the anxiety symptom with Hamilton Anxiety Scale.Results:(1)Compared with NC group, DD group showed prolonged MMN latency, N2 latency, P3 latency(P<0.05-0.01) and decreased MMN amplitude, P3 amplitude(P <0.05-0.01), P2 amplitude, M1amplitude. (2) Compared with NC group, GAD group showed prolonged MMN latency, N2 latency, P3 latency(P<0.05-0.01) and decreased MMN amplitude, P3 amplitude(P<0.05-0.01), P2 amplitude, Mlamplitude. (3) Compared with DD group, GAD group showed prolonged P3 latency and decreased MMN amplitude, P3 amplitude, P2 amplitude, M1amplitude (P<0.05-0.01). There were no differences between MMN latency, N2 latency, M1 latency, M2 latency and M2 amplitude(P> 0.05). (4) There were significant differences of PINV frequency between DD group, GAD group and NC group. (5) There were no differences of MMN, P300, CNV indexes among the three groups. (6)There were no significant correlations between the score of HAMD and MMN, P300, CNV indexes in depression disorder. No significant correlations were found between the score of HAMA and MMN, P300, CNV indexes in generalized anxiety disorder.Conclusions:(1)Delayed MMN,N2,P3 latencies, decreased MMN,P3,M1 amplitudes and increased PINV frequency in depression disorder. (2) Delayed MMN,N2,P3 latencies, decreased MMN,P3,M1 amplitudes and increased PINV frequency in patients with generalized anxiety disorder. (3)Decreased MMN,P3,P2,M1 amplitudes in patients with generalized anxiety disorder than the depression disorder. It could aid differential diagnosis with DD and GAD. (4)The changed MMN, P300 and CNV index might not be related with the clinical symptoms of DD and GAD.
