Abstract


Welding oscillator servo system is a multidisciplinary technology, which plays an important role in the automatic control of welding technology. Welding oscillator servo control system is regarded as an important branch of automation technology, which has moved from the early simulation control into the current digital control. But these current control systems still have some dissatisfactory place. With the development of the EDA technology and continuous improvement of large-scale programmable devices, and gradually mature of NiosⅡembedded soft-core processor and SOPC technology provide a good control program issued for achieving welding oscillator servo control system design.The topics severed Altera’s QuartusⅡ5.0 as the design platform, which proposed the new swing method for the control of welding based on NiosⅡsoft-core processor. In this paper, the control scheme of the welding oscillator control ling servo system was desinged which used NiosⅡsoft-core processor as the core. Because the controlling precision of welding torch had a direct impact on welding quality, so this system adopt brushless DC motor (BLDC) as the servo motor that has good stability and good control controlling.This paper also proposed a design scheme which based on on-chip systems; and in accordance with the design scheme, the servo system separately designed and debugged the hardware circuits and the software system. In this system, the walking motor and welding torch swinging motor were driven according to the swing mode set by host machine. The walking motor and the welding torch swinging motor are an organic whole which can realize the welding swing mode. The system also used a grating sensor and a position sensor for real-time monitoring and control of the position of welding torch, and the welding oscillator servo system was able to adjust the welding torch swinging speed, swinging range and the delay time according to the signals sent from these sensors.With the QuartusⅡenvironment, the functional modules such as the welding oscillator module and the signal acquisition and processing modules were written in a hardware description language VHDL. The functional modules were functional and timing simulated with QuartusⅡsimulator. After the system-generated, the system was exemplified and pins assigned in QuartusⅡsoftware. Then the servo system was downloaded to the EP1C12Q240C8 chip through data cable and the brushless DC motor drive plates were connected through the I/O pins.The experimental results showed that:the welding oscillator servo system based on the NiosⅡof is capable of completing the swing welding under the welding parameters such as the swing mode set by the host computer, which has low swing error and high swing precision, can improve the quality of welding. The system has broad prospect of application.
