Abstract

Transshipping between many equipments and equipments is assumed by chutes. At present, chute is made of welded steel. During transportation, chute suffers friction and impact constantly by lump coal and waste rock. This makes chute has a short life and a large vibration and noise. Although traditional methods reduce the vibration and noise of the chute to some extent, the results are not very satisfactory. In this paper, the feasibility of reduction of the chute’s vibration using the method of laying viscoelastic material is studyed. The impact on the modal of chute with the viscoelastic material of various parameters is investigated from both theory and experiments. Chute with viscoelastic material of different thickness, Poisson’s ratio and elastic modulus is studyed using FEM (Finite element method). Conclusions are as follows:with the increase of the thickness of viscoelastic material, natural frequency and strain show a declining trend. While Poisson’s ratio has little impact on the natural frequencies and strain. With the increase of the elastic modulus, natural frequency increases, while the maximum strain of various modes shows a decreasing trend. In the experiments, the modal analysis of chutes with viscoelastic material of different thickness are carried out. As can be seen from the conclusions, damping treatment of the chute increases its structural damping and reduces the vibration of the chute effectively; With the increase of thickness of the viscoelastic material, the amplitude of the acceleration frequency response function significantly reduces. As the excite keeps fixed value, with the increase of thickness of the viscoelastic material, the vibration of the chute reduces significantly.
