Abstract

Recently, the preparation of nano-structured materials with the different morphologies and functions are arousing more and more attention. Nano-ZnO receives the widespread attention because of its special electronic structure and the latent application prospect. ZnO is not only one kind of typical catalyzed material, but also one kind has the representative electrochemistry and the photochemistry semiconducting material. In this paper, ZnO nanobottles and nanorods were prepared by a facile and simple route. ZnO nanobottles and nanorods were synthesized by a facile solvothermal treatment of an ethylene glycol solution of Zn(NO3)2-6H2O, and NaAc in the presence of polyethylene glycol 10000. The products were characterized by XRD, FESEM, TEM, UV-Vis. The results show that ZnO nanobottles and nanorods have hexagonal wurtzite structures with high crystallization, and a stronger absorption at 200~380 nm wavelengths. Experiments were carried out using Azocarmine, Gentian violet, Rhodamine B, Phenol red, Safranine as the pollutant objects and the high pressure mercury lamp as the light source to evaluate the photocatalytic activity of nanometer ZnO. It’s found that the nano-ZnO has a very good photocatalytic property. And the degradation rate of the Azocarmine, Phenol red, Safranine, using 125W ultraviolet light irradiation after 30minutes, is 97%,98%,95.8% respectively. After 60minutes, the degradation rate of the Gentian violet, Rhodamine B, is 99%, 99.6%respectively.
