Abstract


Objective: To investigate the central skull base area ( referred to as \Method : gathering row CT and / or MRI and confirmed by surgery and pathology of the central skull base lesions in 181 cases , detailed comparative analysis of the imaging findings . Results: 1 , 105 cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma , 34 cases of pituitary tumors , chordoma 11 cases Statistically, the results showed that : the edge of the pituitary tumor multi chordoma (P = 0.002), nasopharyngeal chordoma boundary fuzzy (P = 0.01); chordoma nasopharyngeal cancer and pituitary tumor calcification high probability ( P = 0.000 ) ; chordoma compared with nasopharyngeal carcinoma and pituitary tumors more likely to be involved the slopes in bone ( P = 0.000 ) ; pituitary tumor more likely to be involved than nasopharyngeal chordoma cavernous sinus (P = 0.000 and P = 0.010 ) ; pituitary tumors tend to invade the brain structure ( P = 0.009 ) than nasopharyngeal carcinoma ; easier to destroy the sphenoid pituitary tumor nasopharyngeal chordoma body (P = 0.000). Sinonasal orbital tumors involving the anterior skull base 14 cases , including five cases of sinonasal cancer pterygopalatine fossa ; 2 cases of nasal melanoma involving the sphenoid sinus , middle cranial fossa ; 2 cases of olfactory neuroblastoma , violations of butterflies bone body , pterygopalatine fossa , occipital slopes and anterior cranial fossa bone into the brain ; cases of nasal lymphoma pterygopalatine fossa ; lacrimal gland adenoid cystic carcinoma , undermine the right orbital wall , greater wing of sphenoid bone into the cranial within ; cases of orbital glioma involving the superior orbital fissure and suprasellar cistern ; cases of orbital apex plasma cell tumors violated butterfly ethmoid bone wall . Temporal bone mastoid tumor involvement in after skull base five cases , including two cases of neurofibromatosis II type 1 cases involving the left cavernous sinus , one case of local rock bone bone destruction ; 2 cases of glomus jugulare \4 , the other involving the central skull base lesions in 12 cases , 3 cases of unilateral sphenoid ridge meningioma , sphenoid ridge and saddle area meningioma three cases ; 2 cases of trigeminal schwannoma , sphenoid and petrous apex bone destruction ; cases parasellar cavernous hemangioma significantly reinforced ; rhabdomyosarcoma cases of cheek , pterygopalatine fossa and foramen ovale . Tuberculosis of patients with occipital slopes , slopes and sphenoid osteolytic destruction . Cases of sphenoid sinus mucocele absorb the surrounding bone wall thinning . Conclusion: Based on the performance characteristics of CT, MRI , clinical , majority of the central skull base lesions can make the right diagnosis .
