Abstract

Molecular imprinting technology developed rapidly within the last decade, with potential applications in many fields such as chemical sensing, solid phase extraction, antibody mimics, drug development and so on. surface imprinting technology has attracted considerable attention for its accessibility of recognition sites and kinetic properties. Atom transfer polymerization (ATRP) has proven to be one of the most versatile living/control radical polymerization techniques allowing the controlled polymerization of a wide variety of monomers under mild reaction conditions. ATRP opening a new way for the design of polymer Moleculars. In this paper, imprinted polymer films was produced on the surface of silica particles and graphene oxide (GO) sheets by surface initiated ATRP polymerizations using 2, 4-dichlorophenol a typical endocrine disrupting chemicals as the template molecule. The morphological structure and adsorption properties of the imprinted polymer films was characterized by a series of test. The test of morphological structure of imprinted polymer films show that silicon gel has a high grafting density of initiator on its surface, about 2.88group/nm~2, the quantity of grafted imprinted polymer films is about 0.52mg/m~2, with the average film thickness about 2.50nm, the size of GO-MIP is about 800nm, with an average thickness about 11.989nm, the average thickness of the polymer grafted on the GO sheets surface is about 10.975nm.The test of adsorption properties of the imprinted polymer films show that both the Silicon-MIP and GO-MIP reach their binding equilibriums in a short time, indicating quite fast binding processes. Langmuir isotherm model and Scatchard equation was adopted to fit the experimental data to evaluate adsorption capacity and adsorption behavior of 2, 4-DCP on imprinted polymer films, the result show that the imprinted polymer films has a quite larger saturation capacity for 2, 4-DCP. The test of binding selectivity show that both Silicon-MIP and GO-MIP exhibit significantly lower binding capacities towards 4-Chlorophenol and phenol than 2, 4-DCP, thus demonstrating the high selectivity of imprinted polymer films towards 2, 4-DCP.
