Abstract

To play a key role in the noise control of the vehicle muffler as the object of study, carried out muffler most commonly used in the expansion chamber type muffling structure hydrodynamic and acoustic two studies in order to obtain a muffler large and exhaust backpressure small structures design . In this paper, the fluid dynamics finite element method and finite element method for three-dimensional acoustic parametric model of the structure of the expansion chamber silencer detailed analysis to study the position of the various components of this structure , size, shape and number of its fluid mechanical and acoustical performance , pointing out that the insertion tube port that affect the key hydrodynamic performance of the entire structure , the root causes of the hydrodynamic performance of anechoic structure is smooth airflow through ; main factors affect the amount of expansion chamber muffler for sound propagation paths cross section the degree of mutation , and can be obtained by Narrow design the length of the expansion chamber axially broadband or substantial increase of the amount of the specified frequency muffler . Through the results of the two aspects of the consolidated hydrodynamics and acoustic finite element analysis , that a plurality of stubby expansion chamber series expansion chamber wall surfaces with sound-absorbing material , so that each of the pipes coaxially , ports plus the rounded corners of the insertion tube , and ORDER the exports of the insertion tube diameter is slightly larger than the entrance into the pipe diameter can get the best acoustic and hydrodynamic performance of the muffler structure . Finally , the expansion chamber muffler structure silencer test, test results verify the validity of the finite element analysis in this paper , and pointed out the direction of future research .
