Abstract

The novel layered material Ti3AlC2 of both metal and ceramic characteristics , not only has the same good thermal conductivity metal and workability , and similar to the ceramic material having good mechanical properties and excellent corrosion resistance . In this study, Ti, Al, graphite and TiC raw materials, Si as an additive , dense Ti3AlC2 materials prepared by hot pressing sintering method , by phase composition Ti3AlC2 , mechanical properties , microstructure and electrochemical corrosion behavior , established material composition, the relationship between structure , properties and applications , to lay the foundation for the Ti3AlC2 Preparation and application of corrosion-resistant structural parts of the ship , ocean development field . Vacuum hot pressing process used in the study were prepared at 1200-1400 ° C , 30MPa pressure , the molar ratio of the 3Ti/1.1Al/2C/0.2S, 2TiC/1Ti/1.lAl/0.2Si two components system Ti3AlC2 bulk material , its mechanical properties and phase composition , microstructure analysis to determine the 2TiC/1Ti/1.lAl/0.2Si material system is superior to 3Ti/1.1Al/2C/0.2Si material system . As raw material 2TiC/1Ti/1.1Al/0.2Si the best vacuum hot pressing sintering process : temperature 1300 ° C , vacuum degree 6.67x10 - 3Pa , heating rate of 15 ° C / min , pressure of 30MPa , holding time of 1.5h . Block material prepared under this condition Ti3AlC2 X -ray diffraction peak with standard Ti3AlC2 of diffraction peak height consistent with the layered structure . The mechanical testing results show that the bulk material prepared Ti3AlC2 flexural strength, fracture toughness, compression strength and Vickers hardness was 445.6MPa, 6.13MPa-m1 / 2,1256 MPa and 4.0-5.5GPa . Potentiodynamic polarization curves ( CV ) and scanning electron microscopy methods to study the electrochemical corrosion behavior of the Ti3AlC2 bulk material in 3.5 wt % NaCl solution . The study found that the bulk materials Ti3AlC2 no significant corrosion pits on the surface after the electrochemical corrosion . The bulk materials 3Ti/1.1Al/2C/0.2Si material system at 1400 ℃ Ti3AlC2 passive current density of 3.5 wt % NaCl solution ( 2.197x10-5A · cm-2) , minimum ; passive current density the most stable , the best corrosion resistance .
