Oplopanax elatus Nakai is the perennial herb of Oplopanax Miq., and it is a kind of rare plant, distributing only in the far east mountainous area in Russia, north mountainous area in Korea and Changbai mountainous area of Jilin province in China, and now it has become the secondary protective plant of our nation. In order to effectively study and exploit this material, more and more researchers pay attention to this rare plant, and they do much experiment on its stems, leaves and roots in use of modern analytic technique. According to the above researches, we summarized the correlative studies about its biological characteristics, planting, chemical composition, pharmacological action and clinical application, and came to the conclusion that the study on the chemical constituents of the stocks of Oplopanax elatus Nakai should be dept into. In this way, our team tries to complete this job through a series of experiment on the stocks of Oplopanax elatus Nakai. First in the work, we mensurated the content of the total sugar in the method of phenol-vitriol, and analysised the constituent of polysaccharide. Secondly, we distilled the material with aether, methanol and water in turn, purificated the extractives with the HPD100-syntheic resin and several kinds of silica gel column chromatographic technologies according to the predecessors’ experience and acquired seven kinds of monomeric compound, which named sucrose, glucose, 1 -O-caffeoyl quinic acid, 3-O-caffeoyl quinic acid, 6-methoxyl coniferin, 3α-hydroxylup-20（29）-ene-23,28-dioic acid 28-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-（1→4）-O-β-D-ranosyl-（1→6）-β-D-glucopyranoside andβ-Sitosterol identified by the spectral technique of IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, DEPT, HMQC, HMBC and 1H-1H COSY. At last, we system analysis the total fatty acid of the stocks of Oplopanax elatus Nakai by GC-MS. Among these compounds, 1-O-caffeoyl quinic acid and 3-O-caffeoyl quinic acid were distilled from the Oplopanax Miq for the first time, and the above research is helpful to establish the theoretical basis for the next scientific research and pharmacodynamics research.
