Abstract

Two transition-metal-free organic catalytic systems for aerobic oxidation of alcohols are developed in this dissertation.Using molecular oxygen as the terminal oxidant, tert-butylnitrite (TBN)/TEMPO system has been applied in the oxidation of alcohol substrates to their corresponding aldehydes and ketones. The influence factors of the aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol, such as type of TEMPO and its derivatives, solvent, reaction temperature, reaction time, oxygen pressure and dosages of catalysts, were detailed studied. Under optimum conditions, a broad range of alcohol substrates, including benzylic alcohols, heteroaromatic analogs, substitutedα-phenyl ethanols, primary and secondary aliphatic alcohols, could be oxidized to their corresponding aldehydes and ketones. The TBN/TEMPO/O2 system can also smoothly transfer allylic alcohols into aldehydes under the helps of catalytic amount of DDQ.Use of molecular oxygen as the terminal oxidant, a new catayst system, TBN/DDQ was estabished in the oxidation of alcohol substrates to their corresponding aldehydes and ketones. DDQ, a traditional stoichiometnc quinones oxidants, was firstly utilized as a catalyst in the aerobic oxidation of alcohols. The influence factors of the aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol, such as type of quinones, solvent and dosages of catalysts, were detailed studied. Under optimum conditions, benzylic alcohols, heteroaromatic analogs and substitutedα-phenyl ethanols could be oxidized to their corresponding aldehydes and ketones.
