In the areas of thermal power plant process control, DCS, the distributed control system has its absolute position. Distributed control system is a kind of advanced control technology used for centralized monitor management and decentralized control by taking the advantage of computer technology, which is composed of such parts as centralized management, distributed monitoring control and communication. Distributed control system is characterized by its versatility, flexible system configuration, perfect control function, convenient data processing, centralized display operation, friendly man-machine interface, convenient debugging, safe and reliable operation. It is able to adapt to all needs of industrial production processes, improve production automation level and management level, improve labor productivity, and create more economic benefits for enterprises.Boiler soot-blowing control system is an important sub-system of the thermal power plant boiler equipment, in which PLC control is often used currently. But due to its covert program design, complicated control system and inconvenient maintenance, DCS control will be the trend of later development. In this paper, study is made about the structure and characteristics of distributed control system; theanalysis of functional requirements and process composition of boiler soot blowing system is made; the design of CENTUM CS3000 DCS-based hardware architecture and network configuration is presented; and the work of system software configuration, development and debugging is made. The results show that the system has achieved the desired purpose and automatic control of boiler soot blowing. Now it has been put into use, running in good condition.The research of the subject is of great significance to the power plant production process, improving the automation level of thermal power plant and economic efficiency of power plant, reducing the labor intensity and energy consumption, and making great contribution to the "energy-saving and emission-reduction".
