Abstract


National Image is the integrated knowledge and complex analysis for a nation by the international community, which symbolizes national power and ethnic spirit as the most important immaterial assets by the sovereignty nation and concentrated embodiment of colligated national power. National image is of so great importance that it might take effect on the status and role played by the nation in the global community. Mass media serve as the most effective vehicle of portraying and conveying national images in our information age.Agenda-setting capacity of mass media definitely embodies competitiveness in opinion market as well as its dommercial standing today. International images profoundly forged by various media reveal to its nature, the fierce competition between one nation and another on a global scale. This study honored《China Daily》, which enjoys its unmatched prestige to all, to be a specific object while, series of news coverage on " the 17th CPC National Congress " by this paper is taken into a ever-close perspective, in an attempt to outline national image of China mirrored and to demonstrate its very sophistications as an efficient path to audiences. In this context, related capacity in agenda-setting of media in China is unsurprisingly found in disturbing lack and thus, to measure the eye-catching inferiority in strength of media in China, from aspect of influential power internationally, which is obviously relied on to enlighten possible causes behind and the significance of this study on realistic plate.
