Abstract

Short-limbed shear walls structure can meet the people’s more requirement as a kind of new-style structure system. After years of engineering practice in China, it has achieved great development and progress. But the current research for short-limbed shear walls structure is still behind the project needs. There are many key scientific and technological problems need to be solved urgently. So the further research on short-limbed shear walls structure is currently the urgent needs of engineering practice. At present, there are several problems for short-limbed shear walls structure which require further study:(1) The main influence factors and influence regularity to short-limbed shear wall’s mechanical properties have not been known clearly. Due to the lack of research, to be on the safe side,《Technical specification for concrete structures of tall building》(JGJ -2002) take more stringent requirements for short-limbed shear walls than ordinary shear walls.(2) In seism the dynamic characteristics and seismic performance of short-limbed shear walls doesn’t form a unified cognition, especially the mechanical properties under the action of rarely met earthquake. In view of the above problems, this paper carried out following aspects of study on short-limbed shear walls structure:(1) Nonlinear finite element analysis of the common T-shape and Z-shape single-limb specimens is studied under monotonous loads. Firstly, the comparisons with experimental data verify the accuracy of the finite element model. Then based on the analysis of 28 T-shape and 28 Z-shape specimens, the fracture development regularity and destruction features of single-limb specimens are researched. The mechanical performance is discussed, with the change of axial compression ratio, concrete strength, ’ longitudinal steel reinforcement ratio, high-thick ratio of wall limb section and flange width. The main influence factors and regularity concerning the bearing capacity and deformation capacity of single-limb specimens are realized.(2) Nonlinear finite element analysis of the T-shape double-limb specimens is studied under monotonous loads. Based on the analysis of 34 T-shape double-limb specimens, the fracture development regularity and destruction features of double - limb specimens are researched. The mechanical performance is discussed, with the change of axial compression ratio, concrete strength, longitudinal steel reinforcement ratio, high-thick ratio of wall limb section, flange width and span-height ratio of coupling beams. The main influence factors and regularity concerning the bearing capacity and deformation capacity of double-limb specimens are realized.(3) According to the research results of the front, ordinary shear walls structure and short-limbed shear walls structure are adopted to design a 16 storey residential building. The mechanical performance of two schemes is compared under the action of low-level earthquake. The dynamic characteristics and earthquake resistant capability of the short-limbed shear walls structure subjected to the rarely met earthquake are studied by dynamic elastic-plastic time history analysis.
