Abstract

Objective: In this study, the sandalwood extract respectively for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and androgenetic alopecia animal model to observe and detect treatment effects , due to disease identification sandalwood 5a- reductase inhibition , developed for the treatment of androgen disorders the drug to lay the foundation . Methods : ( 1) using the to establish prostatic hyperplasia model the of castrated rats subcutaneous injection of testosterone propionate 2.5mg/kg.d method . The rats were randomly divided into sham , model , finasteride , sandalwood high doses , dose of red sandalwood in , the red sandalwood low- dose group , 28 days after the animals were killed , detecting prostate wet weight , wet weight coefficient , the equivalent circle diameter of the glandular the height of the glandular epithelium and histological changes ; ( 2) the posterior cervical subcutaneous injection of of testosterone propionate 5mg/kg.d the method to establish the model of androgenetic alopecia . Administration from the gastrointestinal tract and skin administration of two ways to start 56 days after the animals were killed to detect rat I gross weight , hair score and histopathological changes . Results: (1) red sandalwood high dose group compared with the model group , the detection both showed a significant difference ( P <0.01 ) , the effect is close to the positive control group . Not only to reduce the prostate wet weight , reduce the coefficient of the wet weight , and can effectively suppress the glandular the equivalent circle diameter and the height of the glandular epithelium of the growth, promoting luminal size close to the same, to reduce the cavity secretions ; (2) through the gastrointestinal tract after administration , sandalwood high dose group and the model group compared with the detection showed a significant difference ( P <0.01 ) emerged , hair removal significantly reduced the number and also see the hair follicles under a microscope more intensive distribution in the dermis , the hair bulb and subcutaneous tissue at the junction of the performance for the growing season ; sandalwood treatment group hair removal under the skin route of administration did not change significantly ( P > 0.01) . Conclusion : sandalwood extract certain therapeutic effect in an animal model of benign prostatic hyperplasia and androgenetic alopecia effectively suppress the occurrence of androgen -dependent diseases through inhibition of 5a- reductase activity ; sandalwood extract androgenetic alopecia animal model of treatment required before results can be seen only through the administration of the gastrointestinal tract , the the percutaneous absorption treatment effect is not ideal .
