In this paper,I completed the task of design and development of ECDIS,based onWinCE system, using EVC as a platform and MFC as the basis.According to S-52standard ,issued by International Hydrographic Organization (IHO),this systemprovides a wide varietyof functions including visualization displayof spatialinformation,query, update and so on. This paper discusses the following four sections:Firstly,this paper introduces the basic concepts and international standards of thefield of electronic charts, analyses the overseas and domestic trends,level andproblems,then present the task of this paper.Secondly,elaborates the design and implementation of coordinate system(including menu bar, tool bar, the viewspace of coordinate system, status bar). Toolbar and status bar can be hidden; using Mercator projection, displays the map of theEarth to the screen; the map can be roamed, zoomed in and out; shows thegeographical and screen coordinates in the status column. The major problems aretwinkle when map roaming, non-real-time issues when coordinates displaying. Thedesign of the coordinate system is based on MFC’s message mechanism.Thirdly, introduces the objects of electronic chart, and how to displaythemcorrectly. Including: SY, LS, LC, AC, AP, etc. Main task is to draw the typicalobjects ,such as islands, ighthouses, buoys and so on.This part focuses on theclassification , size, drawing and displaying of the objects.Finally, talks about the design and implementation of user defined ENC,functions as follows: the user can select the pen color and pen width, drawing linerectangle (square), oval-shaped (round) with the mouse. This graphics can changewith the coordinate system. Mainlyto solve the interface deadlock and the change ofthe graphics.
