In the recent NPC and CPPCC sessions, Chong qing as the only one municipality in the central and west regions in China became the focus to all the people.The development of Chongqing has great significance in the country in particular, China’s central and western regions. The level of a city’s urbanization will be reflected its level of urban development. These years, the level of urbanization in Chongqing improved greatly, but in the process of rapid development also exposed some problems, Villages within urban is one. Villages within urban is in China’s urban-rural dual system under the special conditions, the rapid urbanization and a special phenomenon appeared. In recent years, villages within urban has been a outstanding problem affecting the coordinated development of China’s cities, public functions and the quality of life , as a difficult and important issue, many researchers study it in the field of administrative, economics, sociology, urban planning and so on. However, the transformation of villages within urban will not be easy, it will not only experience the transfer process from collective to state-owned land, but will also encounter economic, cultural, management and many other issues.This paper first reviewed and compared the study on the villages within urban both in China and western countries, analysed how the problem borned and how it performs, defined the villages within urban in this paper as a typical representative of matural villages. These were followed by summary of the main problems exist in villages and in the transforming process, then try to explore the principal contradiction and give some solutions. Then summed up the transforming models of villages within urban in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Beijing, Qingdao, Zhengzhou and Xi’an, and analysed the common place which we could learn from.Finally, researched the case of village Z in Chongqing, expecting to give useful references for follow-up researches.
