Abstract


During the Period of Westernization, German was emerging to be a powerful nation of economy and military in worldwide basis. However, in order to protect integration of politics and culture of the country, China was aiming to access the advantaged technology and be equivalent with the western countries. These boosted the cooperation of two countries in the aspect of Navy’s armament. German became the largest exporter of armament to China owing to its sophisticate equipment, special political role and positive strategy. The introduction of armament of armada to China navy, represented by Ding Yuan, bought up a powerful maritime country in Far East and was a sign of the beginning of the model of China navy learned from German.This introduction tremendously improved the level of China maritime technology. In the forms of books、staffs and armament, armada technology、cannon technology and torpedo technology emerged into China in huge scales and has became one kind of sources of China military industry. Along with the navy’s constructing, talents became the key element that restricted navy’s development. In one hand, Qing government set up the status of maritime intellectuals. In another hand, they bought up large number of marine professional intellectuals through the military class model, send out and bring in model. Aimed to solidify the status in armament market, German experted huge arms and military intellectuals. In addition that, they accepted maritime students came from China and made themselves the largest supporter for the education of China maritime intellectuals. Araments,intellectuals, books and ports which was provided with deeply German characters and closely related to maritime armament , introduced to China in large scale, tremendously promoted the course of modernization of China Navy equipment, meanwhile,it also promoted the development of Germanic military technology. Although the westernization Movement was finally bankrupted, German deeply influenced the modernization of China maritime armament. And the significance was profound and far-reaching.
