Inspecting System of Film-defect Based on Transmission and Reflection Imaging Systems

The domestic inspection instrument of film-defect has been changed from manual inspection to automatic on-line inspection. However, the existing inspection is not perfect enough to inspect all the defects required, which directly affect the quality of film. This paper presents a new type of film-defect inspection instrument, which is improved on the film-inspection system installed on the production line of Lucky Group. This new kind of inspection instrument extends the range of film-defect inspection and improved the quality of film production.The new inspection instrument adopts transmission and reflection imaging systems grabbing the image of the interior and exterior film coats respectively, meantime the computer receives the real-time image data by two image grabbing card. The software system applies the technology of multi-threading programming that realizes the parallel running of two threads based on the multi-core hardware platform, and each thread contains process of grabbing image, image processing. If a defect is detected, the position of the film will be record in corresponding array. While processing, the linear CCD and the area CCD work at the speed of 15360line/s and 60fram/s respectively. At the end of the inspection the two array of defect-poison information will be combined into one array using corresponding combination algorithm and a report will be created. The algorithm of image processing is simple, effective and fast, which guaranteed the inspection speed of the system.At the same time it presents a new way to use computer RS-232 serial port as a counter, which may replace the counter card in the old system. The benefits are that it saves a counter card and extend the range of counter, which is propitious to system maintenance and improvement.The film-inspection instrument has run successfully in the laboratory stage. The experiment results show that the system can realize the real-time inspection of film at the speed of 75 m/min and detect all kinds of film-defects required. It is tested that the precision of the instrument is: 34μm of horizontal resolution and 81μm of vertical resolution.
