The use of gestures is an important human-computer interaction , vision-based gesture recognition is a key technology for a new generation of human-computer interaction . From gesture image preprocessing , gestures feature extraction and gesture recognition three vision-based gesture recognition algorithm . The image pre-processing , including image enhancement , image segmentation and image morphological processing . Firstly, the input image smoothing, sharpening processing , and then using the thresholding method based on the gradation from the image segmentation gesture last gesture partial image expansion and etching treatment , to achieve the best gesture segmentation effect . Gesture feature extraction part , the lower the gesture image recognition rate are susceptible to noise interference problem , the proposed gesture feature extraction algorithm based on two - dimensional polar coordinate Fourier descriptors . The algorithm design Descriptors translation, scale , rotation invariance , compared with the traditional one-dimensional Fourier descriptors , the descriptors not only the use of the the gesture image boundary information , extracted from gesture image inside information by the boundary noise less interference , better versatility and higher robustness . Gesture recognition , recognition method based on BP neural network . First , use a large number of sample images BP training network by training the successful network to achieve the the gesture image recognition , and to determine the correctness of the identification in accordance with the output result . The experimental results show that this paper, based on two - dimensional polar coordinate Fourier descriptors and BP neural network static gesture recognition algorithm recognition rate can reach 94% , is an effective static gesture recognition algorithm .
