The main work of this paper is to study a second-generation microkernel - based distributed operating system E1 . This paper first discusses microkernel kernel size is less than the first-generation micro-kernel design . That second-generation micro-kernel - based systems can have a good performance . Then contrast the the two micro kernel - Exokernel L4 . The results show that the the L4 microkernel its streamlined two core concepts - thread and address space , can provide a good system extension mechanism and extended system module . E1 is also the answer why choose the second generation of the L4 microkernel as the system kernel . E1 is a distributed operating system , so this study three successful system - first-generation microkernel - based distributed operating system , Amoeba Style , Mach, Chorus , and six . Lay the foundation for the study of the architecture design of E1 . Subsequently focuses above comparative study on the basis of the architecture design of E1 -depth research. Realization of distributed objects and other important system concept implementation based on the architecture design of E1 , and summed up a few points on the architecture design experience .
