The CCSDS organization ( Space Data Systems Advisory Committee ) was released in November 2005 image compression algorithm standard set used in the field of space , with the current mainstream image compression algorithm JPEG2000 and SPHIT compared , CCSDS image compression algorithms structure more simple and easy to implement . The basic unit includes discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and bit - plane coding device ( BPE ) . Wavelet transform and JPEG2000 algorithm 9 /7 wavelet transform , bit plane encoder structure is much simpler than the the JPEG2000 algorithm of EBCOT coding module , so the whole CCSDS algorithm than JPEG2000 algorithm complexity . This paper describes the CCSDS image compression algorithm implementation process , including analysis of CCSDS image compression algorithm is the core algorithm - quantitative encoder implementations focus in the third chapter . The second chapter is a brief introduction SPIHT and JPEG2000 algorithm for comparison . From different aspects of the the CCSDS algorithm 's performance in the fourth chapter analyzes , including the algorithm in the the Wavelet series of select , whether the entropy coding , and error resilient performance of the algorithm is unique in . JPEG2000, SPIHT algorithm comparison results . CCSDS image compression algorithm of advantages, namely : low complexity , easy hardware implementation, and has a good performance can be seen by the specific experimental data . Finally, the current development of CCSDS image compression algorithm , made ??an outlook and its development trend . In order to achieve the requirements of high-speed real-time image compression algorithm requirements must be simple, fast, occupied by the storage capacity is small , easily implemented in hardware , and at the same time to be applied to the field of space , spacecraft , for example , the entire system implementation complexity and power consumption requirements are quite strict , that of CCSDS algorithms It is in this context that the contrast with JPEG2000 algorithm and SPHIT algorithm of high complexity and resource overhead , CCSDS algorithm is more suitable for space applications .
