With the continuous development of microelectronics technology , people put forward higher requirements for electronic products . Require not only good performance , versatile , but also for its beautiful appearance , easy to operate and intuitive . Touch screen with its flexible , intuitive , friendly characteristics increasingly favored by consumers , but also encourage manufacturers to the touch screen is applied to the development of more products . Due to the excellent performance of the touch screen , such that its substituted keys device operation has become a development direction , which brings the character input on the touch screen . Therefore, the development of touch-screen controller , and handwritten character recognition technology research has important theoretical significance and application prospects . This paper first introduces the basic principles of the touch screen types and four - wire resistive touch screen and the touch screen controller design using the Cypress PSoC family of chips . Then , in the introduction of Chinese characters online identification methods based on , structure identification and Statistics recognition method of combining Chinese character recognition . The main work of this paper are: (1 ) design a programmable touch screen controller chip CY8C24423 Cypress PSoC - based hardware . Touch point of detection by software programming firmware through UART communication function of the PC and the next - bit machine . The controller is designed to be flexible , low-cost , reliable performance . ( 2) using the touch screen controller strokes from the the trajectory coordinate data , combined with the structure of Chinese characters recognition and statistical recognition method , use the host computer program written in Visual C . Host computer program of Chinese characters preprocessing , normalization , feature extraction , pattern matching algorithm design , and ultimately the character recognition .
