Abstract


Computer processing capabilities have been significantly enhanced through the use of VLSI technology and parallel architecture . With the enhancement of processing power , system requirements also will improve input / output performance . The disks are the main storage device of the computer , but is very slow access speeds increase . In 1988 , the University of California , Berkeley , DA Patterson a cheap redundant disk array technology , the technology system parallel to improve disk access speed , and improve system reliability through redundancy . Although a single disk reliability is very high , but by the hundreds or even thousands of disks in the array in a day or a week at least one disk failure probability is still very large . In the large - scale disk array , how catastrophic disk failure in protecting data has become a key issue in the design of the disk array . With the increase in the size of the disk array , the fault-tolerant disk failure is becoming increasingly important. Coding technology used in the storage system , especially in the disk array , help to improve the reliability of the system . Of this work include the following aspects : 1 . Summarized cheap redundant disk array technology features and implementation methods . The traditional array coding method , an overview of the latest progress of the coding for a disk array technology . 2 gives a proof of the the X code greatly minimum distance separable nature . Elaborated on the basis of this proof , X - code decoding algorithm . Given four typical erasure codes : the X yards , EVENODD code , STAR code and RS code simulation , simulation results show the feasibility and correctness of the algorithm . Analyze the performance and the advantages and disadvantages of several yards .
