Abstract

During the Anti-Japanese War, the Chinese national economic region was separated into two parts: the area under the dominion of kuomingtang and the area under the dominion of Japan(except the northeast of China). The economies of China and Japan confronted each other in the two areas, The Japanese imperialists resorted to all sorts of tricks to exploit the Chinese people and economy under their sovereignty so that they could map the floor with china and continue their invasion. On the other hand, the Chinese administration of K.M.T who withdraw from the front made full use of the manpower and material resources to counterattack Japan. They established the wartime economic system in the back to meet the demands of the counterattack. Especially a series of wartime policies were adopted in industry and mining to supply their products as many as possible. There products, which were reeded in the military affairs and the people’s life, were provided to ensure the victory of China at last. For their special history, geographical surroundings and natural conditions, the seven provinces, yannan, Guizhu, Sichuan, l-Iunan, Guangxi, shanxi and Kansu, became the center of the back for the development of industry and mining,7 At the same time, Japan also established and developed its industry and mining in the northern and central areas of China. It was a kind of economic dependency of the War of aggression. Thus the scale, speed and the height of techniques of the development of the industry and mining of both sides became one of the most important conditions for the victory in the war.In the most of the past textbooks and research achievements, classical analysis was adopted to expound and prove the development of the industry and mining in the two regions. Especially the Industry and mining in the back in south western and mining there were considered depressed. In effect, the southwestern China was the economic center of China in the wartime. As we know, war doesn’t mean the decisive battle in the front only, and the decisive struggle of econmy in the back as well. The troops of several3million of the Chinese administration, for existence, all relied on the successive supply of clothes, foods, materials, arms and poweders from the back where the southwestern provinces were the main place of production. What was more, the industries in the costal areas were destroyed by Japan and the foreign aids were cut off. This, without the development of the industry and mining in the back in southwestern China, without the material supply of guarantee from the back, it was out of the question for the Chinese government to hold out in the eight-year war until the last victory. My dissension in the thesis is based on this point of view. According to the stardard of social development, I made comparison between the industry and mining in the two regions by comparative analysis of history. The analysis tried to find out the law of the development of this special economy which appeared in china in a special historical age. In this way, a further understanding on the social economy of Modern China was carried out.Because of the different social backgrounds, social environments and industrial basis in the two regions, the development of the industry and mining in the two regions owned different characteristics. From this point, I carried out my research in the following aspects: I. the different development of the industry and mining in the two regions; 2. the different sources of techniques and capital and the different ways of in vestment in the development of the industry and mining in the two regions; 3. the different functions of the development of the industry and mining in the two regions. By making comparisons. I thought that the difference between the development of the industry and mining lay in the following facts.
