Abstract


Objective: To investigate the serum folic acid (FA) content with Helicobacter pylori (Helicobacter pylori, Hp) infection and gastroduodenal diseases between . METHODS: We radioimmunoassay (RA) to detect serum FA content of 176 patients underwent gastroscopy difference between Hp infection and non - infected . Were nine cases of normal gastric mucosa , 87 cases of simple chronic gastritis ( CG ) gastric ulcer (GU) 26 patients , duodenal ulcer (DU) 34 cases the gastric cancer ( GCa ) 20 . Results: 176 cases of subjects , serum FA content of the 83 patients with Hp infection ( 47.16% ) and 93 cases of non- Hp infection ( 52.84% ) compared to no significant difference (P> 0.05). Stomach, duodenum disease serum FA were lower than the normal group, Gca, CG patients were significantly lower than the control group (P <0.01, P <0.05), gastric cancer serum FA below benign gastric disease group and normal the Gu serum FA content higher than the CG group and Gca group of ( P <0.05 ) . Between the the active gastritis inactive gastritis , between and mild gastritis moderate gastritis serum FA content compared with no significant difference ( P > 0.05 ) . Serum FA content of dysplasia and gastric cancer patients compared to no significant difference (P> 0.05), compared with intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia group significant difference ( P <0.05 ) . Conclusion : FA may not be involved in the pathogenic role of Hp related gastrointestinal diseases . FA possible protective effect on the gastric mucosa with , FA lower may play a catalytic role in the gastric mucosa early during carcinogenesis supplementary FA on cancer prevention is worth further study .
