Objective : To observe the simvastatin combined with corticosteroid treatment of multiple sclerosis (Multiple sclerosis, MS) acute phase of clinical efficacy and changes of serum IL-6 levels before and after treatment , explore simvastatin auxiliary role and mechanism of the treatment of MS . Methods: 39 patients met the inclusion criteria of MS patients in our hospital were randomly divided into two groups : treatment group 19 cases , 20 cases of the control group , the control group practices conventional treatment with intravenous methyl prednisolone treatment group on the basis of the above-mentioned conventional treatment plus simvastatin 40mg / d treatment . Kurtzke nerve function Disorder Scale , Expanded Disability Status Scale (Expanded Disability Status Scale, EDSS) were before treatment , 7, 14, 21 and 28 days after treatment , the two groups of patients rated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay respectively before treatment and 7, 14, 21 and 28 days after treatment , the two groups of patients with serum IL-6 levels were detected . Between the two groups of data compared using the t-test , p lt ; 0.05 difference was statistically significant ; All statistical analyzes were performed using SPSS 13.0 statistical software package . Results: EDSS score of 7, 14, 21 and 28 days of treatment and control groups after treatment and before treatment showed decreased, the differences were statistically significant ( P lt; 0.05 ) ; compared with before treatment , the two 7, 14, 21, and 28 days of serum IL-6 levels were decreased after treatment group differences were statistically significant ( P lt; 0.05 ) ; treatment group and the control group , the 7th and after treatment 14 days EDSS score difference was no significant statistical significance ( P gt ; 0.05) , 21, 28 days after treatment , EDSS scores of the treatment group difference was significantly greater than the control group , the difference was significant resistance ( P lt ; 0.05 ) ; treatment group and the control group compared to 7 days between the two groups of IL-6 levels , no significant differences ( P gt ; 0.05) , 14 and 21 days and 28 days of treatment serum IL-6 levels lower than the control group , the difference statistically significant ( P lt; 0.05 ) . Conclusions: 1 ) simvastatin acute phase of relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis , the role of adjuvant therapy . 2 ) lowered serum IL-6 levels may be simvastatin to achieve one of the mechanisms of the MS-assisted therapy .
