Synthesized not been reported in the literature N , N, N , N' - tetrakis [ (2 - benzimidazolyl ) methyl ] ethylenediamine (EDTB) , and alkyl substituted derivatives thereof ( EtEDTB BuEDTB BzEDTB ) 9 complexes with rare earth nitrates and EDTB and zinc complexes . Measured by X-ray diffraction method the EDTB 2C2H5OH · 2H2O EtEDTB 2C2H5OH · 6H2O [2n ( EDTB ) ] ( NO3) : C2H5OH, [ Zn ( EDTB ) ] (ClO4 ) 2 · H2O and [La (BuEDTB EDTB and its derivative with rare earth ions to form ten ligand complexes. Ethylenediamine two N atoms, one on each of the four benzimidazole N atoms and two nitrate four O atoms Ln (Ⅲ) ion coordination . Six ligand EDTB with zinc to form complexes , ethylenediamine two N atoms, one on each of the four benzimidazole N atoms and Zn (Ⅱ) ion coordinated to form a distorted octahedral structure . Fluorescence Properties of nitrate , europium, terbium nitrate EDTB its derivatives complexes . Found in the complexes of europium nitrate , the maximum fluorescence intensity is the europium nitrate BuEDTB complexes , to render bright red under 365nm ultraviolet lamp . Terbium nitrate complexes , the maximum fluorescence intensity the nitrate terbium and BzEDTB of the complexes , the to render bright green under 254nm ultraviolet lamp .
