Objective: To investigate plasma homocysteine ??(Hcy) levels and carotid atherosclerosis and cerebral infarction . Methods : From May 2003 to February 2004 , 91 cases of cerebral infarction hospitalized patients were included in the study . Carotid ultrasonography test results will study subjects were divided into 34 cases of carotid artery plaque group without carotid plaque group 57 according to the size of the lesion is divided into three groups : large areas of infarction in 21 cases , small piece of infarction in 44 cases , 26 cases of lacunar infarction ; cases. All patients determination of plasma Hcy, folic acid , VitB 12 level . Analysis of plasma Hcy levels and stroke risk factors , the size of the lesion , carotid plaque and serum folate VitB 12 < / sub > relationship . Results: Plasma Hcy levels : ( 1 ) with hypertension, diabetes , hyperlipidemia , gender , age, each index is no obvious correlation , (2 ) has nothing to do with the size of infarction lesions ; (3) and carotid atherosclerotic plaque , the plaque 34 cases , plasma Hcy (20.73 ± 9.31) umol / l, no plaque , 57 cases of plasma Hcy ( 15.46 ± 11.4 ) umol / l , the former than the latter (P <0.05) (4) and serum folate VitB 12 was negatively correlated ( r 1 sub > s = -0.264 , r 2 sub > s = -0.16 , P <0.05 ) . Conclusion : the level of Hcy was cerebral infarction size has nothing to do , of Hcy levels is closely related to carotid atherosclerotic plaque and serum folate VitB 12 sub > was negatively correlated . High plasma Hcy hyperlipidemia carotid atherosclerosis risk factors , but the relationship is not clear and infarction .
