Background: The nerve root type cervical spondylosis (cervical spondylotic radiculopathy, CSR) is due to cervical disc degeneration occurs gradually and surrounding structures, bone hyperplasia, or cervical curve change after the stimulus or a comprehensive set of symptoms caused by compression of cervical nerve. The main symptoms of nerve root type cervical spondylosis radicular pain, the main symptoms of pain, severe neck pain and associated with limited mobility, pain to the shoulder, arm and finger radiation, while upper limb weakness and numbness of the fingers, pain severe patients can not even sleep alone, any position can not be mitigated. World Health Organization (WHO) latest \China the cervical spondylosis Research Association statistics: 2003 patients with cervical 86,000,000 1,600,000 of its cause dysfunction. Therefore has a very important significance to study the prevention and treatment of cervical spondylosis. The proportion of each type of cervical spondylosis, nerve root type accounted for 50% -60%, and 80% of patients with radicular pain. Currently, surgical therapy for the clinical treatment of nerve root type cervical spondylosis, in addition to the small number of patients with typical indications for surgery, most patients still tend to use non-surgical treatment. Mentor on the use of the basis of the many years of clinical experience in the Jiaji electro-acupuncture in the treatment of nerve root type cervical spondylosis, and achieved good results, especially in the mitigation of radicular pain, very good results. But its therapeutic mechanism is not clear, and brought many difficulties to the clinical treatment. Objective: To reveal the the Jiaji electric COX-2 protein content of nerve root type cervical spondylosis model rat hypothalamus pain area FOS protein in spinal cord dorsal horn. Methods: 40 adult male Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group, acupuncture group and EA group (n = 10). Exposed the left side of the back of the neck surgery C7 nerve root, carefully separating the nerve root and surrounding tissue impregnated formalin quantitative filter paper is placed on the C7 nerve root shoulders. FOS protein immunohistochemical method detection rat hypothalamus pain area and spinal cord dorsal horn expression of COX-2 protein, to observe the impact of the to Jiaji electric FOS protein and COX-2 protein expression. Results: FOS protein of the rat hypothalamus pain area of ??the EA group and the spinal cord dorsal horn of COX-2 protein content of the expression of the model group comparison, the difference was significant (P lt; 0.01), a statistically significant; EA group and the acupuncture group In comparison, the difference was significant (P lt; 0.01), with a statistically significant; hand acupuncture group differences (P lt; 0.05), model group, with statistical significance. Conclusion: Acupuncture Jiaji can reduce nerve root type cervical spondylosis pain area of ??the rat hypothalamus FOS protein expression of COX-2 protein in the spinal dorsal horn; the Jiaji EA can significantly reduce the nerve root type cervical spondylosis rat hypothalamus pain area FOS protein and the spinal cord dorsal horn expression of COX-2 protein, could significantly inhibit the expression of pain nociceptive information has analgesic effect and protective effect of nerve root.
