Detection and clinical significance of high-sensitivity C - reactive protein in the serum of patients with acute cerebral infarction

Abstract


Objective To investigate the regularity of fluctuation and clinical senses of serum high sensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)level in patients with acute cerebral infarction(ACI).Methods The serum hs-CRP levels of 20 normal healthy people and 100 patients with ACI were quantitatively analyzed by immune transmission turbidity method. Result (1)The levels of serum hs-CRP in patients with ACI significantly increased compared with the control group(t= 7.24,P﹤0.05).( 2)The patients with large infarction had higher levels of serum hs-CRP(9.89±2.59 mg/L) than the medium(6.39±1.94 mg/L) and small(5.44±0.69 mg/L) infarction(t=8.45,P<0.05 或 t=9.11,P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the medium and small infarction(.3)There was a relation between serum hs-CRP level and neurological deficit scores, The severer The patients’ neurological deficit was, The higher serum hs-CRP level was(.4)The diabetic group had significantly higher levels of serum hs-CRP than the hypertension group or the normal blood pressure and blood glucose group ( t=6.69 , P<0.05 or t=7.18 , P<0.05 ). There were no significant difference statistically between the hypertension group and the normal glucose group. Conclusion hs-CRP levels may reflex the degree of brain damage. It may serve as indexes of monitor and prognosis in patients with ACI.
