Abstract


During the modernising of our country, the iron and steel industry is vital for the economic development and society steady. In the severe international competition circumstances, using IT is the inevitable choice and technology guarantee for raising the competitive strength of the steel enterprises and accelerating its continual, powerful growth.The paper firstly introduces the datawarehouse’s correlative theories, including the datawarehouse phylogeny, the datawarehouse modeling and On-Line Analytical Processing and so on. The main part of the paper is about the practice case of datawarehouse application, which I took part in it. The project has been used in some steel enterprise, raises the people’s work efficiency greatly, supplies the helpful information to the leads, optimizes the enterprise financial affairs management pattern and brings the considerable economic benefit to the enterprise.Now, there is still no mature and unitive standard in the development of the datawarehouse for the iron and steel industry. So the paper tries to show readers the developing process of the datawarehouse by elaborating the case and offers experience for other project’s reference.
