The rapid industrialization has resulted in vast increases of wastewater generation. Meanwhile, environmental problems have received major concerns recently. Hence, how to deal with worsen water environmental, especially the way how to deal with high concentration organic wastewater effectively has become a research focus at home and abroad. The high concentration organic wastewater, which is usually very high in COD and of strong toxicity, nonbiodegradable by normal technologies. Improper disposal of wastewater has caused a large number of accidents due to lack of effective treatment methods adapted for hazardous waste. Compared with other methods, incineration has the advantage such as high destruction and removal efficiency, possibility of heat recycle, ease of industrialization realization and so on. US EPA also considered incineration as the most attainable one in various methods. Therefore, study a practical process of incineration to meet the environmental protection demand is of great significance. It is very important to prevent the secondary pollution in incineration of high concentration organic wastewater. It is well known that high concentration organic wastewater consists of organic matter, which are made of elements such as C, H, O, N, S, Cl and so on. These elements can react with oxygen in the air and unavoidably produce harmful gas such as CO、 CO2、 NOx、 SO2, HC1 and so on. Some complex organic compounds unable to reaction completely will even produce other more toxic and hazardous substances, which is harmful to the environment and human health. So, researchers at home and abroad have investigated widely the secondary pollutants formation behavior and control methods of the pollutants from waste liquid incineration and have obtained various results of significance. In this paper, a series of key problems are reported, including the following aspects: introduction of disposal methods of high concentration organic wastewater, evaporation and extraction of high concentration organic wastewater, research on the behavior of nitrogen oxides emission from incineration of wastewater in FBC, and experimental study on the emission and control of HC1 from wastewater combustion in fixed bed. Some disposal techniques involving wet air oxidation, catalytic oxidation, plasma technology and incineration, including their suitable application conditions are briefly described.Through evaporation and extraction separately to concentrate the wastewater, observe the concentration degree and effect of salt retention.Nitrogen oxides emission characteristics of wastewater and wastewater mixed with coal are studied systemically in fluidized bed incineration.Chlorine emission characteristics during wastewater combustion are studied systemically in fixed bed. The influence factors on chlorine emission with the relationship of operation parameters such as combustion temperature, retention period and combustion atmosphere are obtained. On the basis of the emission study, the dechlorination effect and affection factors of Ca-based sorbents is also studied.
