Image fusion is through a certain algorithm to two or more images being integrated into a new image . The multiscale decomposition derived from computer vision research , the human eye perceives the process simulation , frequency domain local characteristics , so , it is widely used in image fusion field . Multiscale transform , the image can be decomposed into progressively reduce levels of image resolution , the coefficient levels represents a different characteristic of the image information , different fusion rules can be selected according to the levels characteristic of coefficients , so that the quality of the fused image better. Based on wavelet transform and image fusion method based on Curvelet transform theory , through several experiments using different fusion rules , subjective and objective evaluation of the results of image fusion based on wavelet transform and Curvelet transformation . On this basis , combining the characteristics of multi-focus image , design an improved regional average gradient Curvelet transform based multi - focus image fusion algorithm , the algorithm first source image Curvelet transform is decomposed layers of low-frequency coefficients and high frequency coefficient, taking a weighted average of the low frequency coefficients , the high frequency coefficients using an improved the regional average gradient - based fusion strategy for fusion , the final reconstruction, the low-frequency and high - frequency coefficients of fusion obtained fusion image is obtained . The experiments show that the given method achieved better fusion effect , on the basis of enhanced image clarity , closer to the standard image .
