Abstract


Student leaders in higher education are an excellent group of students who are the important link between the university and students, teachers and students. They play an irreplaceable role in ideological and political education in higher education. As learners and instructors, their words and behaviors set an example for a great number of university students. Therefore, student leaders are the essential force which determines the success of ideological and political education in universities. With the rapid development of the society, people have higher requirements for the ideological and political education in universities. There is an urgent need to improve the quality of ideological and political education of university student leaders.This paper reviewed the research results of experts and scholars on the current situation of ideological and political education of university student leaders. Based on the analysis of the commonalities and differences of the ideological and political education between student leaders and the other students, the paper has pointed out the ideological and political education of university student leaders, which is important in ideological and political education in higher education, is an essential component of the ideological and political education of university students. According to the survey, questionnaire and symposium findings, this paper explores the major problems and causes and discusses the theoretical basis of the in the ideological and political education of student leaders in higher education. Take the similarities and differences of the ideological and political education between student leaders and the other students into consideration, this paper further discusses the new approaches to the innovation of the ideological and political education of university student leaders in four aspects-the theory, principle, system and effectiveness.
