Objective: Hepatitis C is a worldwide epidemic caused by a virus. It can cause a wide, formidable and chronic infection. But, there are no specific remedy for this disease. At present, interferon is the preferred remedy, but only 50% patients had responded to the therapy of interferon. At the same time, this therapy can produce a lot of side effect, cost too much and make patients bounce back to bad health if they stop receiving interferon randomly. So based on complexional differentiation of the patients with chronic hepatitis C, this study will analyse the patients’ pishenyangxuxuexingyuzhi states.And we will try to find out the therapy of Jianpibushen maybe help the patients with chronic hepatitis C get well and help to stop the progress of chronic viral hepatitis into cirrhosis. Method: 40 patients were divided randomly to two groups named treated group and control group, the former group was composed of 20 cases and the latter 20 cases. All of the patients of two groups came from the outpatients of the first subsidiary hospital of Chinese medicine university in Guangzhou and the eighth people’s hospital of Guangzhou city from Sep. 2003 to Dec.2005.Both of the groups conform to the diagnosis standard of hepatic fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C. The treated group was treated with Jianpibushen therapy, while the control group was treated with interferon therapy. Each patient was observed the changes both before and after treatment, such as clinical symptoms, physical signs, hepatitis C virtus RNA(HCV-RNA), hepatic function indexes, the serum fibrosis makers, and so on. Result:1. The total efficiency of the treated group was 85.00%. And the total efficiency of the control group was 75.00%. There was no statistical significance between them (P>0.05). So there is symptomatic curative effect on Jianpibushen therapy and interferon therapy.2. Clinical symptoms and physical signs were improved markedly in the treated group.
