Abstract


Recently Chinese high education is entering full-speed development as society and economy in China develops. Universities and colleges are advancing, updating, and enlarging, and in the same period many new colleges and universities have been established. Meanwhile, the notions of Chinese people on high education are changing, and teaching styles and the system of high education in China is renewing, thus people wish that campus construction should satisfy the new changes, because the traditional campus models have not acclimatized themselves to the new developments of modern high education in China. Campus environments exert great influences on students. Now campus environments should satisfy the various needs of teaching, studying and living. Therefore, campus environments are very important for a college or university.In our country, spatial states and intercourse spaces in a campus have been discussing in many spots. However, most people discussed campus designing in great scales, aiming at whole campus designing and intercourse spaces. They have ignored systematic study on campus virescence when campus environments were discussed. Therefore, under current background of high education in our country, it appear urgent that campus virescence should be studied in order to build good campus environments to satisfy various needs of studying, living and teaching.In this present dissertation, based on the related gardening theories, psychological theories, and history of campus environment formation, the campus virescence of Yangtze University was studied by investigation on the spot and discussion with relative leaders and students. The factors affecting campus virescence of Yangtze University were analyzed on the bases, and the properties of campus virescence of Yangtze University and current problems involved in campus environment design were summarized in order to explore some new theories and methods on designing reasonable, probable, and practical campus virescence, aiming at provide guides for campus virescence when future reestablishment, enlargement,and building of new campuses are carried out.The dissertation emphasized particularly on general problems and designing methods when campus virescence is carried out, and brought forward designing principles and keystones of every functional part of a campus and designing properties of main parts of campus virescence. Finally, the evaluation system of campus virescence and the view on the topic were put forward
