Abstract


The reform of new curriculum in elementary education is beingimplemented progressively. Its success needs the support and cooperation from all educators, including head teachers. The thesis holds that, on one hand, the new curriculum requires the head teachers’ active cooperation to put it into effect; on the other hand, the concept of the new curriculum has put the new requirement before the head teachers. In order to better bring the enhancing effect into play, we must first make clear what the concept of the new curriculum has put forward for the head teachers, and how to seek effective method to help the head teachers to adapt themselves to the new requirement in their working.The thesis is divided into three parts. Part I demonstrates that the successful implement of the new curriculum relays on the work of the head teachers, which is from the point of the head teachers’ work in the all-round development of the students. In part II ,the survey of the elementary school head teachers at present shows that there still occur lots of problems which are unfavourable to the practice of the new curriculum. Part HI especially discusses the new requirement which is put before the head teachers by the concept of the new curriculum. The new requirement consists of: (1) the renewing of the concept of new education-to be a possessor of the concept of the new curriculum;(2) adjusting the goal of education-for every student’s developing in perfect harmony; (3) changing the education method-changing the traditional one-way spoon-fed education into equal communicative education; (4) widening the education space-fulfill the open and generating class education; (5) optimizing the system of assessment-making it enhance the all- round development of the students.
