Abstract


At present, China’s export commodity structure is changing very greatly and presenting a tendency of fast development and highly upgrade. And it experienced two leaps. Firstly, the resources intensive commodities as the principal export commodities turned into the export of labor intensive commodities as the principal export commodities in 1985’s; secondly, labor intensive commodities as the principal export commodities turned into the export of capital-technology intensive commodities as the principal export commodities in 1996’s. Now China’s export commodity structure characteristics are that the intensive capital-technology products have been turning into comparative advantages from comparative disadvantages, the structure of export commodity highly upgrading is very speedy, the highly upgrading of China’s export commodity structure has been finished under the frame of intra-industry trade. Based on this fact, it analyses the reasons and the effects of China’s export commodity structure upgrading through theory and empirical. The author thinks that there are three reasons for China’s export commodity structure upgrading: the structure of factors changing; technology progress; investment of foreign traders. Although China’s foreign trade has achieved greatly progress, we should understand that it still faces some problems: deteriorating of China’s trade terms, Anti-dumping, Green barracks, etc., and the obstructs of these problems to China’s export commodities are getting stronger and stronger. Therefore, this paper puts forwards some suggestions on how to adjust China’s export commodity structure through the the guidelines of foreign trade development, the key of promoting the export commodities upgrading----the optimization of factor endowment and the promotion of technological progress , tax policy , the enhance of guide foreign investments.
