Abstract


" The issue of peasants is all along fundamental to Chinese revolution and construction". The advancement and settlement of this issue presuppose the recognition of peasants, such as their social position, their status, their interest demands and their relationship to Chinese national democratic revolution. Without a clear understanding of these issues, neither can we grasp the central question of Chinese revolution, nor can we find the impetus of or the road to Chinese revolution, with the result that it is impossible for China to win the neo-democracy revolution, Having clearly realized this question, MaoTsedong paid close attention to peasants and did profound research on them in the neo-democrecy revolutionary practice. He regarded the settlement of this issue as a breakthrough of Chinese revolutionary cause. This laid a firm foundation for the combination of Marxism with Chinese practice, the so—called first leap. We can conclude that MaoTsedong’s research on and successful settlement of peasants’ problem made one of the most creative and characteristic contributions to Marx-Leninism. MaoTsedong’s theory on peasants not only places a cornerstone for the combination of theory with practice in the developing process of MaoTsedong Thought, but also constitutes one of the main contents of MaoTsedong Thought. The discussion of MaoTsedong’s theory on peasants in neo-democracy revolution period is the basic topic for us to study and research MaoTsedong Thought. This paper lays emphasis on three aspects: First, it refers to the theoretical sources, historic conditions, and developing process of the emergence of Mao Tsedong Thought; Second, it exponds the main contents of Mao Tsedong’s theory on peasants in logical sequence; Third, it summerizes the characteristics of Mao Tsedong’s theory on peasants and discusses its significance.
