The Design of a Portable Multifunctional Ultrasonic Testing System

Abstract


With the development of ultrasonic testing theory and modern IC technology, the ultrasonic testing method has been used widely and developed rapidly. Ultrasonic testing method has many advantages such as fast testing, accurate flaw orientation, no pollution and low cost. In this paper an intelligentized, multifunctional and portable ultrasonic testing technology is studied. The principle and method of an A-type-pulse-reflection ultrasonic testing system based on Motorola DSP56F805 has been expatiated on. Firstly, this thesis has introduced the development of the ultrasonic testing and the domestic and foreign research present situation, and has introduced the commonly used ultrasonic testing method and technological means. Then it provides the overall function description of the system, has explained function analysis of each module and design philosophy in detail , and provides the hardware circuit and software design flow chart of each module concretely on this basis. The testing instrument this thesis recommended is intelligent. The receiving circuit adopts program-controlled gain amplifier and filter, enables the instrument to realize the automatic filter and the automatic adjusting enlargement factor according to the echo signal’s different amplitude and frequency. In detecting circuit using double-threshold detection technology, which includes amplitude detection and pulse-width estimation, enhances the instrument sensitivity and reduces the rate of misdetection. The entire system design mentality is based on the low power loss and portable design thought. Having Designed the battery power supply plan, so that the power module has the power supply and the charge function; Having adopted the LCD technology which is allowed to display the graphics and character, causes the result displaying intuitively; Having designed the keyboard interface module, which enables the system to have a human-computer interaction function, helps user operate facilely. It is proved by experiments that the main technology target reaches the designing requirement, and the testing result has high accuracy and reliability. In the last, the paper gives a summarization, analyzes the deficiency of the system, and puts forward the improved suggestion further.
