Abstract

Textbooks play an important role in China's English teaching. The many textbooks came into being with the English syllabus modify. This presented a huge challenge to the selection and use of textbooks staff. This paper attempts to domestic colleges and universities are widely used three sets of materials for comparison and evaluation. The three sets of textbooks are: New College English, English in the 21st century, New Vision. Papers on several important aspects of the comparison and evaluation. The beginning of the first chapter section discusses the background of the evaluation of the work environment as well as the case of students. The aim is to establish the study on the basis of the specific teaching environment. The authors believe that any departing from the study of the specific environment is pointless. Next, discussed several issues: the purpose of the evaluation and the evaluation criteria in the evaluation. The second chapter describes the outline revised in 1999 by the English syllabus and the country has an impact on the design of the materials, because it is the basis for the design of textbooks and guidance. The third chapter focuses on analysis of the part of the three sets of textbooks.
