Abstract

This thesis focuses on centralized IEEE 802.11 b wireless LAN protocol, shared communication medium does not have any priority provisions, the system channel utilization is not high, prone to the the proximal station usurped remote site bandwidth, multi IEEE 802.11 b access by the CSMA / CA way improvements as SMART_Polling ways to improve the efficiency of system access and improve bandwidth utilization. The core task: the use of OPNET network simulation development platform, to build a wireless LAN based on SMART_Polling simulation model, draw and analyze SMART_Polling mechanism WLAN network performance (throughput, media access delay) simulation results obtained conclusions. With the development of computer technology and high-speed broadband network, the network structure is becoming more complex, the network increasingly large-scale physical testing and mathematical calculations were not suited to the traditional method, personal experience, research and planning and design of modern computer networks. Network simulation technology developed in recent years is a new network of research tools and technology, with its unique features for network planning and design to provide objective, reliable quantitative basis. System in the research network, verify that the network programs, usually we can not establish a size to be investigated network communication environment, network simulation can make up for this deficiency, it can provide a realistic environment simulation test environment for broadband network and auxiliary means of testing the basic use of the test network performance, network reliability, and communication mechanisms that provide a variety of new technologies. Therefore study how to take advantage of the advanced network simulation technology to network simulation modeling to optimize the network protocol, the rational allocation of network resources, and the rational use of the network construction costs for network planning and design, and system configuration to provide quantitative reference The basis has important significance. In view of this, in order to study and further the perfect SMART_Polling network protocol simulation and performance analysis of wireless local area network modeling based on SMART_Polling mechanism. In addition, in order to improve network planning and design of objectivity and reliability of the results of the design, to reduce the risk of investment in network construction, also need WLAN network protocol modeling. Meanwhile, OPNET is the most advanced network modeling and simulation tool and application development platform, but due the OPNET mainly used in universities and large communications companies as development tools, source code is not open, the current domestic introduce OPNET literature rarely require in-depth research and promote the use of. This paper focuses on: Wireless LAN IEEE 802.11 protocol and improvements to WLAN SMART_Polling mechanisms to improve the efficiency of network access and bandwidth utilization; OPNET network modeling simulation open
