Abstract


As China is in the critical period of building a well-off society in an all-around way, undoubtedly our country needs a large number of high-quality talents with strong hi-tech backgrounds. Colleges of science and engineering can be seen as cradles where high-tech talents and qualified socialistic successors are well cultivated. Therefore, the healthy growing and enhancement of students’ overall qualities in such colleges are not only necessities of building China’s socialistic spiritual civilization, but also provide strong support for smooth building of socialistic modernization. Among all ways of education, the aesthetic education is one of indispensable important part in their healthy growth.With sharp thoughts in minds and strong pursuit of beauty, the aesthetic ability and quality of students in colleges of science and engineering are also gradually formed, so it is a crucial period for aesthetic education when they are in colleges. Aesthetic education can edify their sentiment, purify the minds, and help them obtain a feel about the unification of truth, goodness and beauty, although they may be obsessed in scientific research. It may improve such students’ aesthetic judgment and creativity, help model a more healthy personality and achieve higher spiritual level, eventually making them harmoniously progressing people. However, the current talent training mode is not comprehensive enough, tending to cultivate specialized talents, without respect to training their aesthetic quality. As a result, their aesthetic values and concepts are so insufficient to play a negative role in their value orientation and moral choice. This negative impact also brings about great confusion to their overall and harmonious development.On the basis of a full description of background, significance and current state of relevant research, the author, first of all, defined what is "Aesthetic Education in Colleges", and explained the theoretical and practical significant of such education for the students on the basis of the view of aesthetic source value and big engineering education theory. Second, through analysis of 1200 copies of questionnaires which were answered in three colleges of science and engineering, the author dig out the main problem of aesthetic education in such colleges. From the angles of aesthetic education idea, subject setting, and the attention paid, this paper is focused on the analysis of problems in the present aesthetic education in such colleges, setting out the negative effects on the students in personality, value orientation, and the aesthetic quality of lack of aesthetic education. It also analyzes the causes of such lack from angles of aesthetic education knowledge, policies and cultivate model. At last, According to the proposed dilemma, the author gives out a remedy to the case. From three aspects including the understanding of the aesthetic education, aesthetic education system and the implementation way of aesthetic education, this paper put forward countermeasures and suggestions for building aesthetic education in such colleges. In order to truly implement aesthetic education in such colleges, we must make our best efforts in the aspects of aesthetic idea, campus environment, aesthetic education facilities, subject setting, teacher quality, management system, aesthetic education practice and many others. Only in this way can we build the first-class aesthetic education which is pleasing for students, is good for the healthy development of students’mentality and personality, and is really helpful in reaching the goal of socialistic harmonious development.
