Abstract


In the communication network development, it is often necessary to exchage data messages between communication equipments and network management softwares. However, due to heterogeneous structures of equipments and software platforms, limited resources and many other factors, message codec is required more in compression efficiency, consistency and portability for the flow of encoded data that is transmission data. A standard is required to unify the interface definitions. The Abstract Synax Notation One that is ASN.l, proposed by the ITU was used widely because of its characteristics[1].Based on the deep study of ASN.l, the application protocols in the Integrative Testing Platform, the characteristics of the codec in network managers and the SDH equipments, the paper put forward a scheme to define and implement messages of the application protocols, a design and implementation to deal with internal codec inside the project for the interface messages of SDH equipments and network managers in a scalable way. In the definition of application protocol messages, twice decoding was used to achieve the transmission of the message types’ information in the network communication, which made the messages’delivery process clear in the Unified Test Platform. To deal with the interface messages of the outside sytems which access to the Unified Test Platform, the paper proposed a scheme to convert equipment messages to ASN.1 structures and realized it in the form of plug-ins, which facilitated codec of the messages in variable SDH network equipments and network managers. So that it is more intuitive and easier to edit and examine the business messages. At the end of the paper, a test was given for the application of message codec. The schemes had been verified on the aspects of the functionality, performance and scalability to meet the requirements of the design.
