Abstract


From 2002, CNC Beijing branch was preparing to execute MPLS function in Beijing local IP network. After a series of earlier stage tests, we believed that there would be no problem to carry out MPLS function in the original IP network. Then we enabled MPLS function and provided MPLS/VPN services to our customer. In 2008, we adjusted Beijing IP network’s structure and unified original IP public network and 163 network into one network with unified AS. With the boom of broadband access services, we encountered the problem of insufficient network capacity of Beijing IP network. In order to solve the problem, we carried out the Beijing IP network construction project. After the 2009’s construction work, the network transmission module based on MPLS switching will be established, it is imperative to develop MPLS/VPN services.Now, all of super core and core routers in Beijing IP network have opened MPLS switching function. Most of aggregate routers have MPLS/VPN ability and the rest of them such as Cisco Catalyst6500 could support MPLS/VPN function by updating its engine.The PE for MPLS/VPN of original IP public network, mostly Cisco 7200 and 7500 router connected to core routers, are providing MPLS/VPN services for Sail、hotel customer.Etc.The intelligent management platform for Local MPLS/VPN has been developed based on Huawei MPLS/VPN IPnetmanager.Currently, the service framework and related protocol of L3 MPLS/VPN is mature and the service has been put in business in a certain scale. But architecture optimization and detail revision of L3 MPLS/VPN such as VPN structure、the support of multicast need to be done. Although the interconnection problem between different L3 MPLS/VPN producers has been basically solved, service management function still needs revision. How to fully use of current network resources, packing and standardize L3 VPN service to provide better service is a challenge to CNC Beijing branch.The standard technique of L2 MPLS/VPN especially VPLS is developing very fast and become a hot topic. But the interconnection performance between different L2 MPLS/VPN producers needs further investigation. Besides, we need to do further test on our current equipment to see if they could support L2 MPLS/VPN, based on the test result, we will standardize the key parameters of L2 MPLS/VPN service.
