Abstract


All-optical wavelength converter is a key device of the future all-optical communication and broadband networks , it is possible to improve the flexibility and scalability of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system , to overcome the switching node at wavelength contention caused network congestion problem , wavelength reuse, and the routing can be performed efficiently , and enhance the ability to adapt the network fault . Wavelength converter based on semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) has the advantages of high conversion efficiency , low power consumption , very popular with people of all ages . Theory , simulation and experimental research papers on all-optical wavelength conversion based SOA cross gain modulation (XGM) and cross-phase modulation (XPM) . The main work is as follows : ( 1) First, the basic characteristics of the SOA of the theoretical analysis , derived extinction ratio XGM type wavelength conversion equation and the conversion efficiency equation theoretical simulation of the wavelength conversion process , based on the above model . Analysis of XPM theoretical . ( 2) simulation studies . Wavelength conversion process Opticalsystem software simulation analysis to explore the input control pulse power , continuous optical power and SOA injection current the XGM -type output the lightwave extinction ratio ; discussed the size of the impact the XPM -type output chirp parameters ; through shaping filter method , the inverted wavelength conversion , and discuss the relevant parameters of the effect is code ; ( 3) experimental studies . For the XGM type wavelength conversion 40Gbit / s all-optical wavelength conversion experiments , to verify the impact of various parameters on the output lightwave extinction ratio ; for XPM type wavelength conversion , narrowband filter to suppress the pattern effect experiment , 40Gbit / s regular code wavelength conversion experiments and multi - wavelength conversion experiments .
