Abstract

With the rapid development of communication technology, communication terminal equipment in an increasingly wide range of applications in distributed power as well as the fast-growing portable electronic products market, with higher efficiency, higher power density, smaller footprint, greater reliability and more low-cost power solutions proposed so desperately need. Secondary battery can be charged as a convenient and practical solution to the large-scale use of the battery to better meet the needs of the development of the field of communications. Due to the long life, maintenance, excellent performance, lower cost, VRLA battery occupy an important position in the secondary battery, the market prospects. In addition to the field of communications, including electric vehicles and other applications have a vast potential market. Widely used for secondary battery charging technology, as well as for charging control integrated circuit chip put forward higher requirements. Charging IC (integrated circuits) not only to be able to control the charging circuit to complete the battery charging process also requires the charging process is fast, accurate, safe, and can work properly under varied conditions. Therefore, in-depth study is imperative for battery charging technology, has become a major focus in the development of power technology. However, so far the battery charging chip market is basically in a state of occupation by foreign companies. Battery charging IC products, research and development with independent intellectual property rights is of great significance to promoting the development of China's IC industry. This article describes the battery and power management IC technology, given on the basis of a valve regulated sealed lead-acid battery charging chip VRLA-CHARGER design: from the analysis the CHARGER chip principle and control, according to the abstract chip The internal main modules, and one by one complete circuit design of these modules. These modules can be multiplexed in a variety of power management ICs, has accumulated a certain basis is also a power management IC and various SOC power module design; papers by the the chip internal circuit to external application circuit, circuit design optimization and system improved. On this basis, the entire CHARGER systems, system simulation, and modeling through the external circuit, greatly reducing the amount of computation, shorten the design cycle. System simulation program can be extended to other high-frequency switching power supply system of universal significance, is an important feature for the work in this article. The chip 1.5um BCD process design and simulation SpectreS. The simulation results show that the the BATTERY CHARGER designed chip internal circuit and system performance indicators meet the design requirements, with certain advanced and practical. The design deliverables Foundry tapeout verification.
