Abstract


“The Assistant Program of Small and Medium size Science Museum”has been on since 2005 late, which is a popular science resources sharing program aimed at supporting and enriching the exhibition content of small and medium size Science Museum as well as boosting the working capacity of the museum’s employees. The Assistant Program was executed by 4 sub centers which toured their exhibitions all over the nation.For the aspect of economy, population, science and technology, education, Science Museum, etc. the six countries (cities) in Guangxi and Guangdong counties represent the less developed area characteristic. The implementation of this Project in this six county (city) has been regarded highly by the China Association for Science and Technology. Evaluation of the local government shows that The Assistant Program is necessary; The Assistant Program make the Science and Technology Museum play exhibition function, benefit more masses as well as the government cadres so that the cause of great importance to science will be regarded more highly. Evaluation of the local Science and Technology Museum shows that the executive entities worked hard and exhibits satisfied with local needs basically. the number of popular audiences improved greatly; the museum’s employees have been trained and training; Science and Technology Museum caught the eyes of the public and government, resources and follow-up policy is expected to be supported. Evaluation of the local audiences shows that, in the cognitive aspects of learning to the scientific knowledge, the program aroused interest; in the aspect of skills in the operation, it is quick to learn most of the interactive exhibits skills under the guidance of teaching staff; in aspects of the attractiveness, the exhibits has strong appeal. What is more, people satisfied with the number of exhibits, in formativeness and instructiveness, and expected types of portfolio of exhibits for further improvement. Evaluation of the media shows that, they consistently gave the high praise on the program and made a great deal of positive publicity reports, basically no negative reports, but less depth of coverage. However, There is still some problems arose on the process of implementation.Exhibits and tour planning cycle have to be further improved, the implementations have yet to be strengthened and publicity efforts have to be strengthened.Lastly, For improving the implementation of The Assistant Program, the suggestions are given as follows: step up publicity, make exhibits content rich, adjust the tour time, recruitment more volunteers, give financial support, strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the Museums.
